This 'Test Tube' series is my third collection of works, which respond to this conceptual investigation of memory and place.  An initial response to the laboratory, each piece represents the test tubes physicality.  During the construction stages, this series underwent conceptual changes, irrefutably becoming more organic in nature.  Each pieces structural integrity, now referencing memories state of mortality, vivid one day, vague the next.

This 'Ear Tag' series is my second series of works, which respond to this conceptual investigation of memory and place. A direct response to farming and a connection to my previous home located within the DPI, these works draw reference to cattle ear tags, and my previous telephone number.

Interesting Quotes

'The catalyst that converts any physical location - any environment into a place, is the process of experiencing deeply.  A place is a piece of the whole environment that has been claimed by feelings.'
- Gussow cited in Larice & MacDonald, 2007, The Urban Design Reader

'People make attachments to places that are critical to their well-being or distress.  An individuals sense of place is both a biological response to the surrounding physical environment and a cultural creation.'
- D. Hayden, 1995, The Power of Place: Urban Landscapes as Public History

'The struggle of people against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting.'
- M. Kwint, C. Breward & J. Aynsley, 1999, Material Memories
